I’m sure you’re all saying "what?!?!?!  I didn't even know you found a carrier?!?!?"

Well, we decided to keep our journey a complete secret up to this point (our parents didn't even know until last week!) for a few reasons. But mainly because this entire process is just so.... public. It’s not the private romantic story most parents have of how their child was conceived. With so many doctors, professionals, and participants involved we wanted to keep what little shred of privacy and “sacredness” we could in such a public process.
Now that we are comfortably 8 weeks pregnant we wanted to share our news with the world!!!

I’m sure you all have many many questions, and I’ll try to answer many as I can now.

Who is your carrier?
Please understand that we do feel comfortable divulging who our carrier is at this point, just know that she an amazing woman and is a local friend of a friend who has quickly become a best friend.

When/where/how did you find a carrier?
Our carrier actually found us! She is a friend of a friend that came forward and offered to make our dream come true after I had told her about our search for a carrier at a mutual friend’s party the year before.  She offically offered in April 2014, with the caveat that we wait until January 2015 to do the transfer due to personal reasons, we eagerly agreed, and started on the legal and other process in October 2014.

How many attempts and where/when was the embryo transfer?
We had our first (and only) embyro transfer at John Hopkins on Sunday, January 18th, 2015 (MLK Jr weekend).

How many embryos did you transfer?
We transferred 1 embryo, and have one baby on the way.

Is it a body or girl?
We didn’t do any pre-genetic testing, so we don’t know the gender yet.

What’s the due date?
October 6, 2015

We have been video recording every step of our journey and once she/we do feel comfortable we will share it with you and then all of your questions (I hope!) will be answered.

I'm so happy for you both! With out hearing any news I was thinking of offering to be a carrier for you :) I miss being pregnant, and we are done having our own kids, so I was definitely considering it. But I'm glad you found someone faster than I was able to offer :) Best wishes for a healthy baby!
