8/20/15- After strategically avoiding all baby showers at my work for the past 8 years....a la "I'll cover the front desk!...so I can avoid crying in front of my coworkers....", it was time for my own. I pleaded with the planner to have it not be a surprise and to not have any cheesy games.  Luckily Lee was able to attend and without any prompting the planners picked the PERFECT theme! They had no idea we were planning those colors and safari as our nursery theme...or that giraffes are my favorite!
I played a slide show of pictures from our journey thus far and people asked a bunch of questions. And then everyone wrote down their best parenting advice on cards. I was amazed at the generosity of my coworkers, we were showered with gifts, gift cards and cash! It was unexpected. Everyone could tell how excited we are to finally become parents!

8/22/15- I attended an all day Crunchy Mom convention in DC. MommyCon was AWESOME! Tons of vendors, and freebies and classes on vaccines, breastfeeding, baby sign language and car seat safety! I was able to try on various baby carriers and wraps. And best of all, all the pregnant bellies or young squishy babies in carriers all around me! They had a "nursing lounge" where Moms could go to nurse or pump in private. I went in at lunchtime to pump and with all the estrogen and sweet baby faces I pumped in front of 20 other women, and I got the most milk I had ever gotten! It was awesome. Hopefully they come back to DC next year and I can take my own squishy baby back to it

Lee and I took off work Friday and Saturday and dedicated our time to cleaning/reorganizing the house and getting the nursery ready. Before now the nursery was my sewing/craft room...and also a dumping ground for storage, so we had our work cut out for us. It was certainly a learning experience since neither of us have never painted before but it felt good that we did it ourselves...and that we have it "almost" ready. The crib will take another few weeks to get here, but he'll be in our room for a few months anyways. Once it's fully decorated I'll post more pictures. The gilder is gloriously comfortable and I see us spending many nights in it.

This weekend we also packed our hospital bags. This was exciting...and stressful! lol Lee plans to keep these in his car so we're ready when we need to be. We already have packets of dog food portioned out and frozen and have alerted the vet/kennel that we will need a speedy drop off (if its feasible) and also have family able to drop them off if needed. We plan to board them until a few days after we get home so we can get acclimated first.

9/2/15- Heather passed her 3 hours glucose test (so she does NOT have gestational diabetes) and has been passing the weekly Biophysical Profile (BPP) testing they wanted to do since the last growth scan. This time bub was measuring in the 93% and approximately 7lbs 9oz!!!! While that could be way off (they say a pound either way), its sure he's going to be a big HEALTHY boy. They want her to continue the BPP and have another scan in 3 weeks. We scheduled it for the day after Yom Kippur....and Lee reallllly hopes he stays put until then! At that point we might start trying some of the old wives tales to get him to come a bit early.... for Heather's sake! lol
