![]() We had our Nuchal Translucency screening and genetic counseling today. Lots of big words and science stuff, but basically we had an ultrasound that measured the fluid at the base of the neck of the baby to see if it was a marker for Down Syndrome. We also did some blood work (NIPT Harmony test) to look for other chromosomal issues and to determine the gender. We should have those results in 2 weeks. We're assuming it will all come back normal and healthy. Everything on the ultrasound looked great and it was amazing to finally see a BABY on the screen and not a lima bean anymore! They were able to see such detail its truly is amazing!!! I started the medication (birth control pills and Domperidone) to induce lactation at week 10 and have been having some side effects but nothing I can’t manage. I’m excited to be doing something…sort of my own pregnancy if you will. ![]() And introducing our amazing Carrier, Heather!!! She lives in Maryland is a mutual friend of my high school friend Jessica. We met 2 years ago right before she conceived her now one year old son. She says she started considering offering to carry for us while she was still pregnant since she couldn't imagine not being a parent. And after a healthy pregnancy and delivery she was firm in her resolve and only waited a few months to tell us. Her and her wife are the most amazing, down to earth, selfless, caring people we've ever met. They have been nothing short of amazing from the beginning of this journey and we have quickly grown into life long friends.
