End of the Yoga Ball Era

We put away the yoga ball last week. That ball was our life line. We used it every day. Sometimes hours a day the first several months to get our munchkin to just f'n fall asleep. I logged Fitbit steps with each bounce... but dammit they still counted. We took it on vacations with us, even bought grandma one to use. We seriously would not have survived without it.
So why did we put it away? Did he magically become a good sleeper?
No. A
fter over 16 months it simply doesn't do the trick anymore. He's on to us now. So now we have to constantly come up with new tricks. Nursing to sleep no longer works, he would easily nurse for hours then sit up wide awake ready for a midnight party! Currently we're logging actual Fitbit steps each night wearing him and jogging (yes actual jogging) around the house humming to him. What will next weeks trick be? Your guess is as good as ours, but I'm sure we'll figure it out. We'll do whatever it takes to make him happy and know he's safe and I'm there for him even if that means we stay awake while he sleeps to snuggle him close a little bit longer.

Global Entry

Yesterday we had our interviews to get "Global Entry" cards to make international travel easier-- easier is is a must when traveling with a toddler. It's TSA precheck (shorter security lines at US airports) PLUS expedited customs when you return from international travel. We each had to apply ($100, good for 5  years) back in late December and luckily I was able to schedule us for the final interviews all on the same day at the same time at our local airport.  I had taken the day off and we spent it doing fun and exciting things (going ice skating, eating breakfast out). Going to the airport and not actually traveling is strange... but in a way felt like a mini vacay since the day was so exciting!
We waited for maybe 15 minutes, and then spent maybe another 15 minutes with the agent doing our finger prints and pictures for our IDs. He explained what the benefits were and the only "question" was "can you be trusted?" which i think he asked jokingly, but with a straight face.
I was wearing Bram in our Tula and the agent didn't make me take him out at all, even for the pictures. Bram got a finger print exemption, and as we left i got an email ping saying his application was already approved, we should get ours within 2 days. Hopefully it will be worth it for our future adventures!
