Chrissy & Lee (Intended Parents) are Maryland natives, currently 29 & 31 years old. They started dating in 2002 and married in 2007; are Jewish, but don’t consider themselves very religious. Both work near Washington, DC; Chrissy as an Office Manager at a national CPA firm (6 years), and Lee runs his family’s Bagel Stores, which they originally opened when his mother was pregnant with him!
They are animal lovers and currently have 3 dogs (their furbabies). They hope to move to the countryside eventually and have a menagerie of rescued animals including dogs, chickens, ducks, goats, and maybe even a pig for their child(ren) to grow up around. They are an active and healthy couple, enjoying hiking and camping in the summer... with or without their dogs, running 5ks and exercising regularly. Lee is a movie buff while Chrissy enjoys curling up with a nice book or creating something with her sewing machines. Lee does all of the cooking at home (he's an amazing chef!!) and loves to document his creations on a photo food blog, he even cooks homemade dog food for their furbabies! Lee's parents and three younger brothers (27, 18 & 14) live closeby and in addition to working with them every day at the Bagel Store and playing on an ice hockey league with them, they have weekly family dinners and are very close. Chrissy has an older married sister (who is currently pregnant!!) and a 8 year old niece that live just a few miles away that they are very close with, they even have monthly movie dates. All of their family and friends are very supportive of their journey and can’t wait to see them become parents. When Chrissy was 14 she was diagnosed with a reproductive syndrome (MRKH), so she was always aware she might eventually have to look into surrogacy or adoption to have children. She told Lee on their second date about having MRKH - he didn’t even flinch, and was open to the idea of trying surrogacy first. Chrissy has recently become active in the infertility/surrogacy/MRKH community, creating and being an admin in various Facebook support groups, attending fertility advocacy events on Capitol Hill and fundraising for various infertility non-profits. They have already gone through an IVF egg retrieval and have embryos ready at John Hopkins Fertility Center, and the same caring doctor that performed Chrissy's partial hysterectomy will be guiding them through the process. |
